The Quick Take ($95) We'll review your synposis and first three chapters. This is a relatively commitment-free way to discover how marketable your idea is and whether you should pursue or finish your novel.
Do you want to find out if your idea is marketable and if you’ve got the basic talents needed to publish a bestselling novel? Send us a brief two-paragraph synopsis of your novel, along with the first three chapters. We’ll give our suggestions and honest, but constructive, feedback. This is the best option for you if you’re testing the waters and would love feedback early in your project. Should you stick to your day job? Or do you really have a future in publishing? We’ll carefully consider the pitch, your plotting (based on outline), your voice and your likely prospects. We’ll give suggestions on character development, help you strengthening your plot points and point out tips for appropriate pacing in your story. Is this a novel worth finishing? Let us tell you. Full Discosure (Starting at $495) This is a detailed review of your complete manuscript, including line-by-line editing, consistency and character arc analysis and an evalution of publishing readiness for this novel.
This is a great package if you’re planning to send your full manuscript to an agent or editor or if you plan to simply publish it yourself. We can help you put your best foot forward. Most edits are complete within two months.
As all manuscripts differ in length, this package covers the first 50,000 words of a project. If your manuscript is longer than this, then you could be charged an additional fee of $100 per 10,000 words.

How do I get started?

How many rounds of edits are included in each package?
Each package includes one review. However, if you'd like to make changes to your novel and resubmit it for further review, we can work with you at a discounted editorial rate for additional reviews.

What can I expect from the editing process?
Editing isn't always painless. After all, you are submitting your work for a critique. However, at Edit My Novel, we understand a writer's perspective. We always seek to offer honest, but constructive criticism. We always look for the positive attributes in your work, as well as the parts of your novel that need strengthening. We want to consider the novel as a whole and we take your work as seriously as you do.
After the editing is complete, you will receive your Word document with editing changes in "track changes" mode, so you can have the option of incorporating them into your work or deleting them if you choose. You also will receive an
Editorial Letter. All editors at large publishing houses include an editorial letter with the marked manuscript. You will receive a similar letter. In it, we'll detail your strengths and your weaknesses, as well as our opinion on broader issues such as commercial viability, pace of the novel, character development and overall quality. Each Editorial Letter will be personalized to your manuscript.
What if I'm not completely satisfied with the edits?
At Edit My Novel, your satisfaction is very important to us. Editorial opinions are subjective by nature. However, if at any time you are dissatisfied with the service at Edit My Novel, we will work with you until you are satisfied. We offer partial or full refunds, as well as re-edits. We will work with you to make sure you get the editing experience you seek. Our goal at Edit My Novel is to make your manuscript the best it can be.
Can my manuscript be refused?
Cara Lockwood and Edit My Novel do reserve the right to refuse submissions. Commons reasons for refusal are obvious plagarism in the text, complete lack of coherence or heavy use of a language other than English. If your manuscript is declined, you will be issued a complete refund within 24 hours of being notified of the refusal.
Do you charge for email communication?
No. Email contact is completely free of charge.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, we do offer gift certificates.
Email us with the amount you'd like to buy, the gift message you'd like included, the email address where you'd like us to send the certificate and the date you'd like it sent. We can process most gift certificates within two business days.
Will you accept manuscripts in paper (and not electronic) form?
